Symbio's industry-proven iBoss aggregation platform is now further enhanced by the addition of fully integrated SIP services. The scope of the offering includes the addition of SIP trunks and SIP endpoints – a first within the Australian wholesale telco market.
This opens up a new segment of the market for providers to target those end-users who are embracing IP telephony. Recent research from the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) reveals that 29% of small and medium-sized businesses already use IP phone services.
CSPs can now extend to their customers the cost savings and functionality of SIP trunking, while also retaining the ability to sell traditional landlines, DSL, NBN and mobile services all through the one iBoss aggregation platform.
By offering the widest scope of aggregated services, the iBoss platform is enabling innovation in the post NBN environment, by breaking down the barriers to entry for smaller businesses and start-ups. It is also powering digital diversification - Symbio is seeing big brands from other industries looking to enter the telco market.
The iBoss platform is especially designed for new telco market entrants or those wanting to expand their service offering. With a straightforward signup process, it provides the essential link between wholesale telecoms operators and suppliers, including Telstra, Optus, AAPT and now Symbio. The eagerly awaited relaunch of the iBoss aggregation platform was smooth sailing, with great customer uptake in the first week.
Since iBoss was acquired by Symbio parent MyNetFone Group in July 2014, there has been extensive interest from companies keen to rejoin the aggregation platform and take advantage of the extended features.
iBoss is the final piece in the puzzle, joining a range of Symbio services that make it easy for our wholesalers to do business.

Coming into the festive season, most carriers have toll fraud high on their list of concerns. Estimated losses from global toll fraud amount to $46.3 billion a year (2013 Global Fraud Loss Survey, CFCA).
Almost a year ago, Symbio took the concern and turned it into action. Our in-house R&D team took on the challenge to develop a smarter, more intuitive toll fraud detection and blocking mechanism. Symbio added this feature to our SIP Trunk service at no extra cost, giving our customers greater peace of mind with this extra protection measure.

As you may be aware, the LNP Code in Australia underwent several changes as of the 1st of March 2014. These changes make the porting process simpler for end users by putting the burden and complexity of porting onto carriers and CSPs. A great win for consumers!
As a member of the Communications Alliance, Symbio was invited to participate in the LNP Code Review and help shape the future of number porting in Australia.
