Symbio Marks 10 Year Anniversary Wednesday 29 February 2012 @ 11:32

The telecommunications market is embarking on shift to new-generation technology , and over the past 10 years Symbio has foreseen the direction and developed the systems and services that will enable its customers to make the most of the new opportunities in IP-based telecommunications.

As we celebrate our 10 year anniversary, we'd like to recall some of the major milestones - change is often incremental, so it is a wake-up call to realise how far we have come.

For a quick catch-up, here is a snapshot of where the network is today and our direction for the future:

  • Next-generation carrier interconnected network in Australia, New Zealand & Singapore
  • Carrying upward of 1.5 billion minutes per annum
  • Growing minutes traffic at 30% per annum
  • Interconnected with all of Australia's major traditional carriers (Carrier Access Code 1488)
  • Interconnected with 17 International Tier 1 providers
  • Direct Number Porting to 80% of the Australian and 100% of New Zealand population

While Symbio will always continue to focus on maintaining the largest core VoIP network in Australia, we also understand our customers require new features and products to differentiate themselves in the market. As such, we will be further investing in new product development to ensure we can keep our customers at the forefront, and the backing of the My Net Fone Group will give us increased scope for R&D.

As we move into the NBN world, ‘access' will become less of a factor and we anticipate NBN to become an enabler for increased uptake of IP communications technology.

Find out about our latest developments and upcoming events below, including acquisition by My Net Fone Group, signing of the WBA with NBN Co, and meet out team at CommsDay Summit 2012 or ITW.
